Traditional "notheng" (also referred to as "coastal cathedrals") on the West Coast of Norway were built with local materials and adapted to the landscape of the area. The buildings are structurally impressive in their simplicity. The structure reflected the fishing practices of that time. Today, fishing operates on a different scale, but the traditional construction method has been the main inspiration for the design of the modern "notheng" in Austevoll.

The project consists of a modern "notheng" and an administration building for Troland Havfiske. The project will be carried out in two phases: first, the "notheng," and then the administration building. The "notheng" has a primary steel structure with net storage on the first floor and a work deck on the second floor, where fishing nets are received from fishing boats. The idea is to create a transparent building that allows in light and provides transparency within the structure. The facade is made of polycarbonate and plexiglass combined with steel frames. Here, fishermen will exclusively work with fishing nets and the fishery in a modern "notheng" in the island municipality of Austevoll. We are looking forward to an exciting development
